Earthy Home with Contemporary lines of Architecture Mahanaim Where the god's angles converge
Mahanaim is a green eco-friendly house designed with naturally available materials to live with an experience of luxury along with the vibration of energy produced by the indoor greenery and natural nude materials used throughout the house. The touch of the natural nude building materials gives the feel of nature, which brings a vibe of positivity and peace of mind. "It is said a home with natural elements has a positive vibe flowing through the house", that's exactly present here.
The style of the house is kept Natural and contemporary, with the use of natural material bringing the Rustic look. The indoor green garden space enhances the air quality and freshens the mood of every member of the house round the clock.
The challenge was to bring up the split-level roof to provide more working area without wasting space. The entire house has a higher ceiling than usual to increase the fresh airflow to keep the environment inside cool. Another challenge was to achieve the requirements of the client in the given precious piece of land aiming not to exceed the number of floor levels. Hence, the design of the house is conceptualized one level lower from the entry of the house and two levels up, this concept reduces the height of the building from the road level. The center level becomes the entry-level this makes access from the basement to the upper level of the house easier.
The Client requirement:
Basement : Squash court & TV entertainment room.
Ground floor : Garage with 2 carparks, Servant Room, Foyer, Living space, Prayer room
First floor : Kitchen, Dining hall, Utility, Kitchen store, Parents room
Second floor : Two Kids rooms, Master room, Study.
The home was thoughtfully designed to accommodate all of the client's needs. All the rooms are designed spaciously accommodating the required furniture layout with an ample amount of natural sunlight reaching every corner and Wind scoops, apertures, and windows are used in air ventilation design to promote quality cross ventilation. Bigger windows bring more light and air into the house while at the same time allowing us to see & feel the environment around the house with the transparency of glass. Windows are a great element to feel and keep connected with the surrounding environment. The complete home is naturally lit with an ample amount of sunlight brightening the beauty of the natural materials used to build this house. The elevation is kept very simple with clean line exposing the brick wall, stone & glass naturally. The planter space brings out the green texture which beautifies with a contrast with the blue sky.
Basement :
The house has a large Basement space designed for entertainment and the other side of the space for a squash court, also a planter space filled with natural soil and tall-growing plant in the center of the stairwell looking up the skylight at the terrace through the stairwell.
Ground floor :
The Ground floor with closed garage space for 2 sedan cars to park along with a servant quarter, common toilet for servants & drivers, garage store cabinet. The garage leads to indoor access with a door to the foyer. The foyer has a low ceiling height with a nice pergola skylight. The vertical garden is placed below the skylight which enriches the foyer space with the natural live green plants and the beautiful sunlight, the green natural leather finish Kota stone flooring gives a beautiful feel to walk. The foyer walks us to two spaces one to the basement and the other to the living room, stairwell opens up to the skylight, Living space is well organized with built-in seat, a high roof, and huge windows that balances the ventilation, the roof is made of brick filler slab, bricks bumping out of the roof a bit to create beautiful pattern under the slab. The higher roof slab does not allow the space to heat up while keeping the air cool.
First Floor :
The first floor opens up to the warm
kitchen attached with dining space, utility and grocery store for kitchen, Parents bedroom with attached toilet, the dining area has a peep out balcony looking towards the road to monitor the home visitors.
Second Floor :
second-floor the final level of the house opens from the stairwell to an open study space that has a huge window with a live planter box. The plants at the study room window seat help the air to purify and provide better airflow inside and allows one to concentrate and focus. The floor has 2 bedrooms for the kids and one Master bedroom, one of the kid rooms is designed with a mezzanine library space and a funky hanging net sleeping space.
Terrace :
The terrace level is designed and organized with a beautiful garden, Barbeque area, Terrace kitchen, and a powder room. The house design has a nice flow of access to all the areas on every floor.
Use of Materials :
Eco-friendly natural materials have been used. Burnt Brick made of clay is majorly used for walls, exposing its natural texture without cement plastering. Hollow clay roof block used as fillers in the roof slabs reduces the weight of the slab, helps achieve a longer span without intermediate beams blocking the visuals, thereby reducing the heat (Thermal Insulation) & creating a beautiful clay ceiling surface. Natural Sira stone brings rustic texture to the house, Jaisalmer Indian marble, Kota green leather & polish finishes of the natural stone tiles are used as a flooring material. The use of concrete blocks and plastering surfaces are kept minimum while building this beautiful home.
